For example, a double-cylinder circular sock knitting machine has 1200-1500 different parts, with numerous and varied processing steps. If a factory produces multiple machines simultaneously, it needs to carefully manage the production rhythm and seamless transitions of the parts to ensure that the required variety and quantity of parts for assembling the entire machine can be provided on schedule on the assembly line. Modern textile machinery industries often employ new management tools and methods such as computers and systems engineering.
The textile machinery industry is interdependent and mutually reinforcing with many other industrial sectors. For instance, the steel used to manufacture knitting needles requires good ductility, toughness, necessary hardness, rigidity, and elasticity, necessitating the metallurgical industry to smelt and roll specialized steel. Textile machinery requires the motor industry to provide specialized electric motors, such as torque motors and stepper motors; textile-specific motors with high starting torque, high operating time, and the ability to withstand harsh environments; and DC motors and frequency converters with good speed control performance. It also requires the electronics and electrical appliance industry to provide high-quality components capable of withstanding 8000 hours of continuous operation per year, as well as complex automatic control devices, microprocessors, and microcomputers. The petrochemical industry needs oil-resistant synthetic resins that remain unchanged after long-term immersion in lubricating grease and are superior to non-ferrous metals for manufacturing transmission components, bearings, and seals. Various high-performance engineering plastics and reinforced plastics are also needed to replace increasingly scarce wood resources or metals to reduce weight and inertia, and improve corrosion resistance and wear resistance. The rubber industry needs various transmission belts, roller covering materials, rubber rings, and various cushioning parts. Other machinery industries need to provide general-purpose reducers, general-purpose transmission components, general-purpose clutches, couplings, brakes, and other mechanical parts. Furthermore, new technologies, materials, and structures developed to meet the needs of aerospace, automotive, and weaponry industries, such as high-precision, high-speed rolling bearings, carbon fiber reinforced plastics, miniature compressed air pipelines and valves, hydraulic torque converters, hydraulic transmission, and jet technology, are also beginning to be used in textile machinery to promote its high speed and high efficiency.
